Delivering Bespoke Mirror Solutions for a Landmark Boutique Hotel

Curio by Hilton – Lost Property, London St Paul’s

Abbey Glass was proud to play a key role in the delivery of the striking Curio by Hilton – Lost Property Hotel in London St Paul’s, supplying an extensive range of bespoke mirrors that became an integral part of the hotel’s distinctive interior design. Working alongside main contractor McAleer & Rushe, Abbey Glass collaborated closely with the design team to manufacture and deliver high-quality decorative and functional mirror solutions that reflected the hotel’s unique identity while meeting the demanding standards of a premium commercial hospitality project.
Completed between October 2021 and May 2022, the project required precision manufacturing, careful coordination and exceptional attention to detail to bring the designers’ creative vision to life.
A Design Inspired by Discovery
Part of Hilton’s Curio Collection, Lost Property is a boutique hotel that celebrates individuality, storytelling and unexpected moments of discovery. Designed by Bell & Swift, with Ashley McCabe leading the interior design, the hotel embraces the idea that not everything lost should necessarily be found. This philosophy is woven throughout the interiors, creating a memorable guest experience filled with subtle design details and playful references.
Abbey Glass was entrusted with producing the mirrors that would become a defining feature of this concept. Every mirror was manufactured to complement the carefully curated interior scheme while delivering the durability and performance expected within a busy commercial hospitality environment.
Bespoke Manufacturing at Scale
In total, Abbey Glass manufactured and supplied 145 bespoke mirrors throughout the hotel. Each mirror was produced to exact project specifications, ensuring consistency across all guest rooms and bathrooms while accommodating the unique design features developed by the interior designers.
One of the most distinctive aspects of the project was the use of coloured mirrors, supplied in both blue and peach finishes. Rather than being purely decorative, these colours formed part of the hotel’s wider design narrative. The guest room floors alternate between blue and peach, a deliberate design choice inspired by the colours of the British flag, creating subtle variation throughout the building while maintaining a cohesive aesthetic.
Within the main bedrooms, the coloured mirrors feature a memorable inscription:
“Not all lost things should be found.”
This thoughtful detail reinforces the Lost Property concept, transforming a functional mirror into an engaging design feature that encourages guests to connect with the hotel’s story.
Precision Engineering for Commercial Environments
Abbey Glass supplied the hotel’s bathroom mirror package. Both bathroom mirrors and the main vanity mirrors were manufactured with precision CNC cut-outs, allowing seamless integration with lighting, fixtures and other bathroom fittings.
Producing mirrors with CNC machining requires meticulous planning and manufacturing accuracy. Every cut-out must align perfectly with electrical fittings and architectural details while maintaining the integrity and finish of the mirror itself. For a project of this scale, consistency across all rooms was essential to ensure a smooth installation process and a flawless final appearance.
Abbey Glass’s manufacturing expertise ensured each mirror met the exact dimensional tolerances required, reducing installation challenges and supporting the project’s demanding construction programme.
Collaboration Throughout the Project
Large-scale hospitality developments rely on effective collaboration between contractors, designers and specialist manufacturers. Throughout the project, Abbey Glass worked closely with McAleer & Rushe and the wider project team to ensure production schedules aligned with the construction programme from manufacture through to delivery.
With installations taking place over several months, from October 2021 to May 2022, careful coordination was essential. The phased supply of mirrors supported the progression of fit-out works while maintaining the high standards expected on a flagship London hotel development.
This collaborative approach allowed Abbey Glass to respond efficiently to project requirements while maintaining quality, consistency and reliable lead times.
Combining Creativity with Commercial Performance
Hospitality projects demand far more than attractive finishes. Every product must withstand frequent use while continuing to perform and maintain its appearance over time. Abbey Glass combines advanced manufacturing techniques with commercial- grade materials to deliver products that meet both aesthetic and practical requirements.
For Lost Property, this meant producing mirrors that achieved the designers’ creative ambitions without compromising on durability, accuracy or ease of installation. From coloured feature mirrors to technically complex CNC-machined bathroom mirrors, every element was manufactured to provide long-term performance within a high-end hotel environment.
The finished result demonstrates how bespoke glass and mirror solutions can elevate interior spaces, becoming an essential part of the guest experience rather than simply a functional requirement.
